Of course , we as UNP ers who have always acted in the National interest and cast way party differences to help any Govt. which engages in doing good for the country and the people in general will be the most delighted if the Govt. can achieve that target . Words are cheap , so the Govt. is doing lip service only . When it comes to action , the Govt. has proved itself as an absolute fiasco . Every Ministry , every Govt. .Institution and Dept. are in an utter mess. It is a pity that this is the Govt. which promised most for the people and did least for them .

Even for the present flood crisis , the Govt. must take responsibility. When it is aware that practically every year floods ravage this country , it did nothing , even to mitigate the disastrous effects of the floods. The Govt. by improper planning had created a situation in the important capital city , Colombo , where just an hour’s rain causes several feet of inundation of roads , houses and buildings. Unauthorized filling of lands and erection of buildings by influential Govt. politicos and henchmen without adhering to the Town planning laws have led to this disastrous situation .

Earlier floods were confined only to certain remote areas , but with this Govt.,  areas which never experienced flood are also submerged.  Can you believe , residents of Ratnapura are visiting Colombo to witness floods ?  she exclaimed.

While the President’s only obsession is  centralizing power in himself and his family,  the  whole country and its foundation are crumbling . The overriding neglect and negligence in Ministries with the gaze only on making a fast back even at the expense of the  people’s and country’s interests is fast heading the country to irretrievable doom and destruction , she asserted.
