The JVP had accused that the  Govt. is using force, humiliation  and intimidation methods  to compel the Opposition party supporters in Govt. sector to join its ranks. Citing numerous incidents in the State media , Fisheries Dept . SL Transport Board, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and others , JVP M.P. Lal Kantha told , over 100 workers have been so harassed.

The violence and intimidation have reached such unbearable proportions that some of the Opposition party employees are even afraid to stay at their homes. It is a shame that the President and the Govt. who make eloquent speeches on stages against violence and on protection of women’s rights  have been unable to stop these incidents occurring before their own eyes.

In one instance a  lady officer of a Govt. Dept was so disgracefully treated and made to bend and bow before a Rajapakse picture that she had quit her job in shame, he added.
