Elections Commissioner regrets he cannot hold fair and free Elections because of the police and State media Print E-mail

The Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake told the Opposition parties when he met them , that he is unable to hold free an fair elections because the police and the State media are uncontrollable by him. Even the IGP had failed to carry out some of his instructions , he has regretted , according to UNP Gen. Secretary Tissa Attanayake.

As in- fighting among the UPFA candidates are growing so is the tense situation in the country escalating with peace loving citizens being unable to attend to their daily activities . Despite the general growing violence since of late in the country and the general public pointing an accusing finger at the Police inaction as the cause, and the Govt. turning a blind eye to them has allegedly precipitated this monumental violence in the country, with the UPFA candidates allegedly taking the law into their hands , backed by the impunity they enjoy  as supporters of the Govt.

Govt. lawless shamelessness infects its own candidates -7 intra party violence already -no violence among opposition members Print E-mail

The People’s action for free and fair elections (PAFFREL) Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachi regretted that there is a rapid increase in intra party violence in the run up to  the forthcoming General elections . There had been seven cases of violence and all of them involved the ruling party candidates fighting among themselves. Seven persons have been admitted following the violence.
